That's a really pretty blue!

Brilliant representation! This is why we work so hard in equine rehab/reconditioning- First, we want to prevent injury with appropriate conditioning. Second, should injury occur, we want to prevent it from happening again with the best healing. Love the toothpicks! ... See MoreSee Less

Tailorable Tales of Two Dressage Horses

Meet Frederick and Devo (the grey). Each came to the fitness center with different rider goals and expectations. Working together, we developed two individualized plans.

Frederick is a PSG champ that has been out of work for a year. He is sound, thoughtful, and experienced. Yet his muscles are soft and he is clumsy. His gait is unsteady and his timing is off. His rider came to us to help build muscle and improve coordination. With the water at his elbow and a slight 2 degree incline, we set the treadmill speed to a comfortable walk for 25 minutes. Higher water on an incline increases resistance to build muscle and stamina. The repetitive nature of a balanced, working walk improves coordination and stability. In 3 sessions, the rider is quite pleased with his progress and he will decrease from twice a week sessions to once a week sessions after another 6 weeks.

Devo is a young dressage horse. He's very smart and willing but inexperienced. His rider seeks a more extended stride and more supple movements. We developed a plan to meet her specific goals. At weekly haul-in sessions, we keep the water just above the fetlock, no incline, and increase the speed to a very brisk walk. Additionally, the horse works in the water treadmill with a Equiband resistance band to keep some form and engage more muscles. With this set-up, his feet come up and out of the water, his feet reach way ahead to keep pace with the treadmill speed thus promoting improved extension, reach, and range of motion of both front and hind limbs. These fitness sessions augment this pairs work on their farm with their trainer. We adjust sessions based on weekly rider feedback. Mission accomplished!

Two very different dressage horses coming for different reasons. The versatility of the water treadmill is tremendous. The scientifically-proven results are unparalleled and unquestionable.

Call or email now before haul-in sessions fill for regular visits! Call or text 703-505-2213 or email info@novaeqc.com. Packages available as low as $70/session.

Despite the cold and wind, the atmosphere was warm with an awesome group of riders and horses.

With more than 100 trips around the arena, local riders made good use of the indoor arena and really enjoyed each other's company.

Enormous kudos to 'organizer extraordinaire' Brooke, the always reliable and organized Alexa, and even Anna on her day off came in to help. Manuel and the guys kept things rolling behind the scenes. What a great team!

Thank you for attending. We look forward to making the next the one better, and warmer.

No February show. Sorry.

There will be some time later. Because we have a heart, some accommodations are being made after the registration deadline. The trickle down effect is that information dissemination is greatly delayed. We're working diligently to get the groups and times together.

Hi! Question if there is a Feb 11th show? Couldn’t find a link

We had a great time! Thank you for hosting! Great experience for our young horse and that new partnership!

I was able to watch 1.5 sessions on Sunday, it was a wonderful clinic! Always fun at NEC:)

Outstanding clinic with the impressive Bernie Traurig. A great group of riders, horses, auditors, and friends came together to create a very memorable and engaging weekend on many levels.

The greatest positive energy in the air for the entire weekend. It was impossible to leave without several gems of wisdom whether attending as one of the 24 riders, the riders' +1s, or the 47 auditors.

A highlight was the dinner hosted by NEC on Saturday night for all the riders inside NEFC's heated and comfortable space. We set tables and chairs and food and drinks as Bernie told stories, engaged in active conversations about training and thoroughbreds, showed a 35 minute video highlighting 30 years of sucessful performance TB development in the US, and another short video on his competition highlights- specifically noting some good and bad rider decisions.

Thank you Bernie. Thank you to all the attendees. Thank you to the combined staffs of NEC, NEFC, and TEVA teams. And thank you to our sponsors and supporters like Total Equine Veterinary Associates , NOVA Equine Fitness Center , NOVA Equestrian Center - NEC , Clairvaux LLC , Purina and Lyndsee Hewston , and Boehringer Ingelheim and @Debbie May.

Brooke Fries managed this like a pro alone with the entire NOVA Equestrian Center - NEC staff. Go team!

Fantastic weekend and thank you for an amazing job hosting!

One of the most fun and engaging clinics to date. The weekend was wonderfully put together and organized in every way. 🤗 Thank you for having us!

December Dog Day was an absolute blast for humans and dogs alike!🐶💪🏼 Whether training for a nationally ranked competition, rehabbing from injury, or escaping the winter weather for some indoor exercise— there is something for everyone at NEFC!

This dog day featured 12 agility and competition dogs- some were there for the 1st time and some have been coming for months.

Older, overweight, and sedentary canines are responding very well to weekly treadmill sessions. These dogs are able to play fetch again and go up and down stairs.

Email us today to get added to a dog day or find a day that works with your busy schedule. Info@novaeqc.com

Sessions last approximately 30 minutes and are $60.

How often do you have a dog day? This is fantastic my dog would love this.

We are so excited for our January day! 😀 Water treadmill workouts are helping Athena stay fit and healthy to be her best crazy self, and they are helping old man Roy to feel his best! 😀 We love you guys!

I may need to schedule this for my dog with Wobblers 🤔

We have updated our website so you may find it easier to access information and select services.

The previous site was built on hope, projections, and speculation of how we would likely operate. Initially, the facility was in disarray so site photographs were not used as they did not represent what we wanted to project. Our web designer did great with what little we had.

Now a year later, we have an operating rhythm, renovations, and upgrades so as to present to you a cleaner and more true browsing experience. We welcome you to explore and learn more about us.

My boy!!!!

Do you know where it is NOT cold this morning?

NOVA Equine Fitness Center

68 degrees and ready for this mornings pre-Christmas work outs.

Can you feel the heat from this solarium? Warming up Bim's Harbour Lights then he gets a session on the water treadmill.

Give the gift of fitness. Sessions are a great gift for equestrian friends and trainers.

This therapy worked wonders for our beloved mini “Firefly”! 🤗

We have loved working with Meghan O’Donoghue and her horses, Palmer and Eros, the last few months to support their fitness goals as they now head to Florida this winter! We can’t wait to see Meghan, Emma, and the horses in the spring for more aqua tread sessions!

No more tacky tack room.

Drab to chic. Or as well as we can. Lots of paint, new light fixtures, heat/AC, removing old cabinets, and more - a needed face-lift in the spirit of space improvements. Now both tack rooms are equivalently appointed.

More lights on the big tree in the parking lot aka our Christmas Tree.

Additional fencing and automatic frost-free outdoor waterers being installed this week. Woot woot - says all the guys and horses!

Some assorted pictures from around NEC showing progress and underscoring our commitment to the equestrian community - all those that board here, train here, haul-in or stay for water treadmill fitness sessions, attend clinics, and compete in horse shows.

Happy Holidays.

It was a fun and educational weekend. NEC looks forward to providing more learning opportunities in the future.

OMG so nice to see Anne- such a great rider and beautiful in the saddle. I was one of her Mom’s students when I returned to riding at 40 years old.
